Honors Program

The Honors Program at St. Andrews University!

If you’re ready to push your boundaries even further, we invite you to join our prestigious General Honors Program, a journey designed to elevate your academic experience and challenge you to reach your full potential.

Why Join the Honors Program?

At St. Andrews University, our Honors Program is more than just academic excellence—it’s a community of scholars dedicated to intellectual curiosity, creativity, and personal growth. Whether you major in Business, English, Psychology, Biology, Chemistry, or any other discipline, the Honors Program complements your field of study, encouraging you to think critically, engage deeply, and explore diverse perspectives.

In the Honors Program, you’ll be immersed in a supportive academic community that values discussion, collaboration, and the exchange of ideas. Our small, seminar-style classes emphasize student participation, where learning is a shared experience between you and your peers. We aim to create an environment where you can fully engage with your academic journey, expanding your mind and opening the door to new possibilities.

Who Are Honors Students?

There is no “typical” Honors student at St. Andrews. Our Honors students come from all walks of life and represent a wide range of academic interests. You might find them pursuing pre-vet, pre-med, or pre-law tracks, participating in the Pipe Band, or competing in the Equestrian Program or on one of our athletic teams. What they share is a deep desire to learn, excel, and challenge themselves to go beyond the ordinary.

Honors Courses and Curriculum

Our Honors curriculum is thoughtfully designed to enrich your learning experience:

  • First and Second Year: Enroll in honors-designated sections of courses required for all students at St. Andrews. These classes will challenge you to approach familiar subjects with fresh eyes, fostering creativity and critical thinking.
  • Third Year: Dive deeper with a specialized Honors course crafted to push your intellectual boundaries. Here, you’ll engage with advanced material in preparation for your own independent research.
  • Fourth Year: Pursue an independent Honors Research Project in a field that excites you, under the guidance of the Honors Director and faculty mentors. This capstone project allows you to demonstrate your skills and knowledge while contributing to your field of study.

Ready to Join Us?

If you’re ready to be a part of this enriching and transformative experience, we invite you to join the St. Andrews University Honors Program. Students who have a Grade Point Average of 3.5 or higher will be invited to join the program.   To accept the program, SAT test scores of 1100 or ACT scores of 22 or higher will need to be submitted.

If you have any questions or would like more information, don’t hesitate to reach out to Dr. Justin Kuhn, Director of the Honors Program, at 910-277-5261 or [email protected].
