Academics

Our Academic Programs Ensure a Well-Rounded Education

Located in Laurinburg, North Carolina, St. Andrews is not your average small liberal arts and sciences school. We challenge students to create their own traditions instead of following the status quo.

We encourage students to step outside of the traditional boundaries of their degree plans to try something new and give themselves a well-rounded education. St. Andrews wants students to do more than find a career. We also want our graduates to find their passion. Students work closely with their advisors to discover what career path they want to pursue and build a degree to get them there. Our students have the opportunity to choose from 21 majors and 21 minors. Which path will you choose?

The Education Philosophy of St. Andrews

We are a student-centered institution of higher learning. At our university, our first priorities are teaching and advising students. Our academic standards and expectations are high, and we pursue academic excellence with determination and vigor. We labor diligently to help each student achieve academic success and meet personal goals, and we enjoy uncommon success in transforming the lives of our students for the better. We intentionally emphasize the development of the whole person – intellectually, socially, and spiritually – so students may achieve their fullest potential and become contributing members of society. We emphasize interdisciplinary study and the acquisition and mastery of communication skills, analytical techniques, problem-solving strategies, leadership skills, and creative expression. And, we are an institution where a sense of community and compassion prevails, where nurturing is a common feature of the educational process, and where all members contribute positively to the maintenance of a true teaching and learning environment.
