Eventually serving as the chemistry and physics chair earning himself a Distinguished Faculty Award honor. Dr. Dotson is remembered as someone who took personal interest in his students and went the extra mile to demonstrate his lessons. Presented to Dr. Jacqueline Stephens ’88
Jacqueline was always a bright mind, well remembered by her professors and alumni alike. She graduated from St. Andrews in 1988, going on to get her PhD from East Carolina School of Medicine and her Post-doctorate from Boston University School of Medicine. She now applies her education at Louisiana State University as Professor of Adipocyte Biology. Her research helps combat type-2 Diabetes and has several publications dedicated to such topics. Jacqueline continues to make us proud each day.
Presented to Karen Singletary ’90
Karen is a lifelong equine enthusiast and competitor who excelled in her youth at the national level. At St. Andrews, Karen won numerous National Championships competing against schools five times the size of our own. She went on to graduate with a degree in Business Management and a minor in Equine Business. Despite her major, Karen couldn’t shake her passion for equine therapy and co-founded Hands and Hearts for Horses. A foundation that provides therapeutic horseback riding for kids with disabilities.
Presented to Haley Ladell 94′
Haley was the team captain for our St. Andrews soccer team back when we competed in Division II athletics. She had a legendary run earning All-Carolinas Conference first team honors in each of her 4 years at St. Andrews. To go along with her All-Conference placements, she was amongst the top goal-scorers every year as well. Haley scored several hat-tricks in her career (3 goals in one game) and is well remembered by her teammates as a true competitor. Her former coach Chad Esposito described her as the leader of the team on and off the field.
Presented to JoAnn Williams
JoAnn Williams has since sadly passed away but her legacy is still felt amongst the school today. JoAnn was the Tennis and Volleyball coach at SAU from 1966 – 1988. It was she who introduced Volleyball to St. Andrews. A sport that both men and women participate in and has since evolved into two different categories of competition. All future beach and Indoor volleyball players can thank Joann for her commitment to St. Andrews.
