American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR)
Elects Ash Walker, DHSc., MA, ACSM-RCEP, FAACVPR 2022-2023 President

Chicago, Ill.—The American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR) is pleased to announce its newly elected president of the Board of Directors, Ash Walker, DHSc., MA, ACSM-CEP, FAACVPR. Dr. Walker assumed the role from immediate past-president Amy Knight, PhD, ABPP at the 37th AACVPR Annual Meeting, on Friday, September 23 in West Palm Beach, Florida.

The Board of Directors is the governing body for AACVPR and is responsible for developing the organization’s strategic plan and making fiscal and policy decisions
that align AACVPR activities with its mission and vision and result in significant benefit to its members.

Dr. Walker is an Assistant Professor of Sports Performance, Health, and Fitness and Department Chair of Sport Studies at St. Andrews University in Laurinburg, North Carolina. He is a member and past president of the North Carolina Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation Association, an affiliate society of AACVPR, and served on the AACVPR Membership and Affiliate Relations Committee. Dr. Walker was first nominated to the Board of Directors in 2015 and returned in 2019 to serve as Treasurer before receiving nomination to the President-Elect position.

His career began as an exercise specialist in a cardiopulmonary rehabilitation facility which blossomed into a curiosity and passion for cardiopulmonary rehabilitation,” said Mollie Corbett, AACVPR Executive Director. “Ash’s professional service is driven by genuine care and enthusiasm for helping our industry and our members flourish. He will lead our association with boldness and creativity.”
