Hurricane Helene – Community Support

While we were spared by Helene, the storm has upended communities and disrupted lives. I want to take a moment to express my deepest sympathy for those impacted by this event. Our thoughts are with those who have been directly affected, whether through loss, displacement, or uncertainty. We recognize that this is a challenging and emotional time for everyone, and it’s important to remember that you are not alone.

As a campus community, we are here to support one another through these difficult times.

We also encourage everyone to check in on each other—sometimes, a simple conversation can make all the difference. Let’s continue to foster the compassion, resilience, and strength that define our campus.
If you or someone you know needs help, please don’t hesitate to reach out to a trusted friend, professor, or staff member. Together, we will get through this. Daniel Lockamy, our counselor is available for a conversation, please contact him at lockamydl.

In addition to offering our moral support, we want to share that the Laurinburg Police Department has posted information on social media about local efforts to collect supplies for those impacted in Western North Carolina. If you would like to contribute, donations are being accepted at 11990 Hasty Rd (in the field between Jerry’s and Pine Acres Motel). Items such as non-perishable foods, bottled water, cleaning supplies, and personal care items are in high demand.

Thank you for being part of this community, and please take care of yourselves and one another.
