NC Patriot Star Family Scholarship Programs

Supporting qualifying NC military and veteran families, and disabled veterans attending NC post-secondary institutions

We are excited to share with you the scholarship programs administered through Patriot Foundation, a North Carolina-based non-profit that supports military and veteran families through educational scholarships. The Spring 2025 scholarship application cycle is September 1, 2024 – September 30, 2024.

Patriot Foundation administers two scholarship programs using NC state and federal funds: The NC Patriot STAR Family Scholarship Program and the NC Patriot Star Family RECOVERY Scholarship Program. These scholarships are available to the children and spouses of fallen service members or disabled veterans, children of injured active-duty service members, and qualifying disabled veterans. Applicants must be NC residents accepted to or attending NC post-secondary institutions. Disabled veterans (sponsors or applicants) must have a VA disability rating of at least 50%. Scholarships for the Star Program are up to $2,500 per semester and up to $6,000 per semester for the Recovery Program. Award amounts can vary from term to term based on demand and availability of funds. Funds may be used to cover up to the cost of attendance. Applicants must have qualifying expenses not met by other grants, stipends, or scholarships.

*IMPORTANT UPDATES*

The NC Patriot Star Family RECOVERY Scholarship Program will not accept new applicants beyond the Spring 2025 application cycle. The program is funded by the American Rescue Plan Act and is time limited, so no new recipients will be accepted after the Spring 2025 application cycle. Funding will continue for existing recipients through the Spring 2027 term, or until program completion – whichever comes first. The NC Patriot STAR Family Scholarship Program will continue to accept new applicants for future cycles.

There will be a limited number of scholarships available for the Spring 2025 term for both the RECOVERY and STAR Programs. Applicants will be considered based on eligibility and order of receipt of completed application.

The scholarship application cycle for the Spring 2025 application cycle is September 1 – 30, 2024. Applications can be completed online atpatriotfoundation.org. The application will be available when the cycle opens on September 1st.
